I do not totally agree- so much like many people do – that Painting is just Fine Arts. I do believe that painting is an excellent means of communication.
An artist may paint to express a state-of-mind, and therefore paint for their own satisfaction. However, a painting always carries a direct message via direct eye contact.
Therefore, it is through our own subjectivity that we end up delivering a more or less objective piece of art. What is also very important is the way people perceive, accept, interact with and judge a painting, and thereforre to what extent they feel involved. This assures once again that a certain painting is there to speak to us.
Many of my Graphic related Arts are originally hand-drawn sketches and paintings, including mans design logo. Many greeting cards and posters designed are originally paintings. SHISM – a poster I conceived lately, is originally a painting theme from “Society” collection.
Whether these paintings are “flowers”, “scapes”, “horses”, “women”, “still lives”, “abstract”, “society”, or any other theme, they always communicate a message; and therefore are illustrations of specific events, moments, concepts, ideas and ideals…and all these models – human or not – always refer to an existing situation, an existing human or object.
So much like any Design, paintings illustrate and communicate life and aspects of life, they even promote products and concepts.
